Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)

Be the technical face of Amris in the field: embed with airline and ATO customers, configure and customise the Amris Competency Management System to their training operation, and bring real-world feedback into the product.

What you'll do

  • Lead technical implementation projects for new airline and ATO customers: discovery, solution design, configuration, data integration, and go-live.
  • Write and maintain customer-specific configuration code, integrations (TMS, LMS, scheduling systems, flight-data sources), and bespoke reporting.
  • Own customer-facing technical training and enablement for trainers, schedulers, and competency analysts.
  • Capture product gaps and customer requests; translate them into clear, prioritised input for the product and engineering teams.
  • Provide tier-2/3 technical support during early customer life-cycle; co-author the playbooks that scale to the broader Customer Success team.
  • Occasional on-site travel (1–3 weeks per quarter) to customer training centres across Europe.

What you bring

  • 4+ years of software-engineering experience, ideally including a customer-facing implementation, solutions-engineering, or forward-deployed engineering role.
  • Strong full-stack engineering skills: Python (FastAPI / Django), JavaScript / TypeScript (React), SQL, REST APIs, basic cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Comfort wearing multiple hats: code, customer conversations, data wrangling, light project management.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; an additional European language is a plus.
  • Genuine curiosity about aviation training, safety, and the human side of high-stakes work.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in aviation, defence, healthcare, or another regulated, mission-critical domain.
  • Familiarity with EBT/CBTA terminology and instructional design.
  • Open-source contributions or technical writing showing the ability to communicate complex systems clearly.
